Default How do you attach your lining to your clips?

I hot glue, but I have to work so fast to make sure it does not turn out lumpy. The one thing I do like is how quick it is, but I am a bit of a perfectionist and also find myself pulling it off several times to get it right. Once I am on a roll though, I am fine. I just was wondering what other options are out there.

Also, my glue gun is so old it is covered in ribbon scraps and crafting items. I think I have had it since I was 12 - no kidding. Anyway, I can not figure out if it is a low-temp or hot-temp (if it was written on there at one point, it has worn away or is covered with ribbon). I am one of those girls who does not get rid of something until it dies, so will not get a new one until this one does (hoping it dies soon...lol). I know they are only $5...it is not the money...it is the fact that it still works and it would be wasteful to get a new one. Anyway, I was curious to know which temp works the best. Does anyone have a preference? Wow, who knew someone could go on and on about a glue gun?

Now, I have fabric-tac, but have never used that and not even sure how well it would work. What does everyone use? How long does it take to set?

I've seen a lot of girls using the double sided tape, but I haven't tried that yet. I use hot glue but a low temp gun. It's still pretty darn hot, though! My fingers are proof. LOL.

I use a hot glue gun. I bought a hi temp and a low temp because they were only $3 each. I was using the hi temp but my dog decided to eat the cord one night So now i'm using the low temp and it works just as well. I think i might try the double sided tape because I don't really like hot glue!

I use a low-temp hot glue gun that I have had FOREVER! It works fine but I've been thinking about trying the double sided tape because it seems like it wouldn't be as messy (or burn my fingers!)

I use the double sided tape & it's WONDERFUL!! I've used terrifically tacky tape from Wal-Mart & just recently got Sealah tape and they're both great!!

I use hot glue, I measure out my ribbon first and then stick it and mush it with my fingers

Ditto this exactly. DO NOT use Fabric-Tac, it will peel off after a few days.

Here is how it works (pics attached):

1. Cut ribbon to 4.5" and heat seal ends, then apply tape to the back of the ribbon. Or, if you're making a bunch of clippies with the same ribbon, then you can apply the tape to a yard or two of ribbon, then go back and cut 4.5" lengths.

2. Peel the backing off the tape.

3. Open the alligator clip and stick the tape, sticky side up, onto the underside of the top part of the clip.

4. Then fold the ribbon up to cover the top side of the top of the clip.

5. I usually push the ribbon down into the hinge part, but I don't know why, I guess it doesn't really matter. Then fold it around to the back and go back and push the ribbon down all over to make sure it's stuck. All finished!

It makes a much smoother clip than hot glue and is much less messy and burn-inducing!

Let me know if this doesn't make sense!
