Lightbulb Newbie... Marabou Pom Pom help!!!

HI all,
I am new here and totally overwhelmed. I don't even know if I am posting this in the right place!!!

I have been making bows "on the side" for about 3 years now. I make bows for my local area in a small town in Saskatchewan, Canada. I am getting alot of business from the local dance studio. The dance instructor is looking for a pink marabou bow that looks like a pouf or pom pom. I have not worked with Marabou very much so any help you can give me for making something like this would be very helpful. I am thinking it would need to be on a pony "o" or french barette so it will stay put during the performance.

I am not sure really where to start. I have added marabou to the back of my bows before but I have never tried to make a pom pom or snow ball or whatever you call them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Or could you please send me to a how to site for them (if not free then I would need a download that you purchase since I don't have time to wait for the mail...)

On a totally different note, I am so happy I found this site. There seems to be so many good ideas here and a great bunch of helpful people!!!

I made a pouf of marabou but, I was unhappy with the outcome. I took a piece and made a circle, wrapped the ends together with wire and then attached to clip. If the marabou is thin and not real full then, it looks like a circle and not a pouf if that makes sense. I guess the key for this to work would be to make sure that it is thick and full so that it forms a ball not a circle.

I too have made one but it wasn't as poofy as it should have been. I did mine very similar as mentioned except I just glued it together. I will mention that now before I cut the marabou I always glue a strip of ribbon where I want to cut then cut through the middle of the glued ribbon so there are no fly aways. HTH
Welcome to the group, you will make less bows now because this place is addictive!!

i've glued strips of marabou to a pom-pom to make a ball but it is a bit messy.
looks cute though.

I did one that looked fairly 'spherical' on the ends of hat strings one time. Instead of forming a circle with just one piece of marabou, use two pieces. Make an 'X' with them and then tie the four ends together with string.

I think if you needed a bigger sphere, you could just start with more than two pieces.
