Default Fabric stiffner?

Hello! I am new to bow making and had read that some people spray their bows with a stiffner...is this neccessary? What kind of stiffner do you use and where can I get it? Thanks!!

You don't have to use it, but it helps the bows keep their shape. I use Heavy Starch I get at the Dollar Tree.

I think there's a kind called "stiffen stuff" that I would like to try. Right now I just use Rave hairspray and it works great! I make the bow, spray it with a thin coat of hairspray, then bake it in the oven for 20 minutes at 250 (this is optional but also helps it keep its shape.) and then spray it with hairspray again.

I've been using liquid starch mixed 50/50. I spray the bow and then bake for a few minutes.

I use the blue liquid starch also.
Its in the laundry detergent section.

I bought one of those little empty spray bottles in the hair supply aisle and mix half starch and half water...shake it up each time.
Lay your bows on a baking sheet....spray well with the starch.

You can either bake or let them air dry.

I let mine air dry....they turn out crisp and beautiful!

(And they SMELL GOOD too!)
