Question Need help

I saw this tutu dress and i fell in love with it. I would love to make one for my daughter but im not sure where to start. Do you think it would be like making a regular tutu and just leaving the satin long so that i can tie it ?? or would i have to do something different??

I think you are right. It looks like a regular tutu just longer and with an extra peice of satin for the halter and one more for the waist.

P.S. This soooo makes me wish I had a little girl hehe

Yes--it looks like she makes the regular tutu--the no sew kind--cut to the length you desire--you would just have to tie the satin ribbon to create the empire waist each time--it doesn't look like it is attached. And the halter top--the satin is just looped through the tulle then tied around the neck, and for the "dress" that has straps, she is just using tulle--I bet you could knot the tulle for the straps, then as you wrap satin around the top of the dress to cover the elastic, it would cover the "straps" too--make sense?

it is indeed a regular tutu with a ribbon tied up to make a halter.

if the waist is not woven with a ribbon or sewn over with binding all the elastic will show.

that is mostly what you see on ebay.

one this size will have about 10 yards of cut tulle to make it full enough to not show the elastic or individual pieces when stretched

IF you read the descriptions of her other dresses with empire waists, it says that it is double abnded, not just wrapped with a ribbon. I think what she did is used another length of elastic and wrapped the empire top around both to make it loop around both elastics, then did hte regular tutu for hte bottom part. (IF that makes sense, I am horrible as explaining htings). In one of the other descriptions pics-- you can see the "empire waist band".

Look in hte last 2 pics, esp the black and white one. Coming out from under hte black ribbon, you can see hte band. HTH! I think I might try this...... One day. Maybe for my DD easter egg hunting!!

OMG! this is just adorable. I'm sorry I can't help you but would love to know how to make this as well. I read somewhere on ebay where someone was selling the tutu's and it said that it is soft tulle and never itchy. Where would I be able to find these tulle at?

Thanks!

Im thinking of sewing in maybe some velvet ribbon to the top of the tutu where the elastic is only on the back so that it doesnt leave her a rash. if not that then ill probably do like a onsie underneath just cut off the top where the arms go and sew that to the underside of the tutu so that she doesnt get itchy.
