Default Tutu question..

I bought some tulle today to make my cousin's daughter a no sew tutu..She will be one month old on the 12th..She was 7lbs3oz when she was born..
What waist size do you think she has?I would ask my cousin, but I would like the tutu to be a surprise..Thanks.
Oh,and this is my very first time making one,so any helpful tips would be greatly appriciated.

Hey there, I had the same question about sizes awhile back and I found on a girl's website where she listed the waist sizes for what she sold. It's worked out pretty well for me, but of course not all girls are the same.

Newborn: 17" waist
6-18 months 18" waist
2t/3t 19" waist
4t/5t 20" waist

It basically goes up an inch for each size. Elastic as opposed to using satin ribbon makes the sizing easier because it will stretch if she's a little bigger.

My daughter is 10 weeks and she has a 14" waist. She is also still in a newborn size, so I don't know if that would help. This link shows using elastic Mama's Doodles: Tutu + Tutorial = Tuturial

another option would be to ask what size pants she's wearing and then one of us could measure the waistband of a pair of pants for you

One thing to mention too when you use elastic; if the waist size is 20" (the size of my 2 year old) you would cut the elastic 2-3" smaller. This will give a good fit, but also make it fit smaller or a tad larger girls too.
