I have always used the figure 8 method, I tried folding them, putting the pin in and spreading out the loops, but they never came out right.

I just got the TNT templates today and I made some basic bows (much faster!!!) but I have not tried the twisted bow yet, the directions show the fold over method with the pin and pulling the loops apart. I will try it but I have a feeling I may be sticking with the figure 8!

I have found that if I'm using a single layer of ribbon, the "hand wrap around" methods works well, but if I'm using two layers of ribbon, the figure eight works well.

I could never get that method to work for me...?

I can do it by hand, but the bow loops don't match each other as well as
now BECAUSE I just bought the Brilliant Bow Maker Twisted Boutique Bows! LOVE IT! faster output! oh, plus the gator-bite creasing tool makes the center so much prettier... hard to get used to not using elastic thread though.

I use figure 8 & have been pretty happy with how they come out. I fold & crease the center to make sure both my loops are even & then fold the loops & crease to make sure the final loops are even. If that makes sense.

For those of you who use the figure 8 method where were you able
to find ribbon length measurements for the different size finished bows?

I have a yardstick glued to my table and I use that to measure my ribbon. Then I fold my ribbon in half and use a ribbon iron to crease it. I repeat that for the nest two folds as well. After that I use needle and thread with the help of a Sally clip and then sew my bows. I cannot do 40 an hour but I wish I could. Maybe I should venture off the training wheels and try doing them absolutely freehand. It takes me about 10-15 min to make a bow.

yeah, it takes me about 15 minutes to make a basic bow and put it on a lined clip with a center knot. However, that's not counting the 15 minute bake time in between the raw bow and finishing it up on the clip.
