Default Want to Make Korker Ribbon

I make all kinds of bows, however I have never korked ribbon. Give me some hints. I know I buy dowel rods and wrap it around hold on both ends with clothespins. Do I spray with water or run water over in the sink. Now what do I bake it at and for how long. I need to do this. I would like to start putting korked ribbon in the center of bows for flops.

Thanks,
Teresa

I use 1/4" dowel. Bake them at 260 for about 15 mins. Dont put water on them, lol. It depends on what kind of ribbon I use, if I spray them.

I don't put anything on mine to bake, but don't take them off the rods until they are completely cool. I then spray mine real good with hair spray.

you can startch them before you bake them but some ribbon can bleed on the dowel depending on the quality of the ribbon.

I spray mine with starch then bake them at 225 for 30 min. Once they have cooled completely I unwind the ribbon off the dowel and voila!

I bake at 275 for 20 minutes and remove the ribbon when they have cooled. I used to spray with starch before I baked because I really liked how stiff the ribbon came out. But...since I started using the woodburner to cut my korkers I stopped because starching it before makes the edges turn black when you cut with the wb. Now I just give them a couple of coats of starch after they are completed.

I Bake them at 275 for 20min. I spray them with startch before i bake them and as soon as they come out while they are still hot. Then i wait it they cool off and dry then unwrap them and cut. I LOVE startching the ribbon it makes it so much easier to work with because its stiff and not flopy

I use the drill to put on the dowel rod, secure and then bake on 275 for 20-25minutes. Then when they are done I let them cool completely and unwrap. Then I lay them all out on paper sacks on my counter and spray the crud out of them with starch and wait until they are all the way dry and viola! They have always done great for me that way! I just use the .97 starch at walmart....you can also get the same brand but with the scotchguard in it too....best for flipflops Good luck!

You put the dowl in your drill were you bit would generally go, tighten and then attached the ribbon with a clothes pin on the end closest to the drill and pull the trigger. I would go at a slow speed so that you can guide your ribbon up the dowl.

Does that make sense? I am more of a visual person myself!
