Default korkers and pony o's

OMG!! Yesterday I don't know how many hours I spent wrapping dowels to make 8 sets of korkers and then 3 boutique bows. I hate making korkers. Then all the cutting and heat sealing. Then the trimming and REsealing. I had one hell of time sewing these korkers on pony o's. One set I had to start over 4 times because it seems everything kept getting all twisted up. Is there an easier way to sew them onto pony o's? I sewed around the ribbon and pony o about 7-8 times and then tied off the thread. Then I put a small dab of hot glue on the thread in case it might've come apart.

Also I sprayed really good with stiffy but sometimes it seems I have one or two that seem to not be as tight as the others. Any suggestions?

I'm gonna say again-I HATE MAKING KORKERS. Plus I sold them to friends for 5 bucks a set. Seemed like way too much work for 5 bucks. They ddn't seem to be as round and fluffy as my others. IDK if it was because of the pony o's or just me. Thanks for listening to me rant!!

First of all...save yourself the trouble of cutting and heat sealing each piece and get yourself a wood burning tool. This is the wonder tool for making korkers!! With a wood burner you can cut and seal at the same time.

Secondly...$5/per set??? OMG! How are you making any money? I use almost that much just in ribbon, not to mention my time and other supplies. I've been selling mine for $5.00/ea or two for $9.00. People aren't even blinking an eye at my prices. All I ever hear from my customers is how much work it looks like goes into them...and they are right!

Finally, when I add korkers to pony o's, I make my korker as usual. Then I take a needle and thread and sew through the center of the korker and through pony o. Then I wrap the thread around the pony o and grab a little bit of the korker as a wrap (does that make sense?). I do this a few times and then finish by sewing back through the pony o one last time. This way I'm not wrapping the thread around the korker and bunching it up and taking away from it's original puffy shape.

I hope this all makes sense. Good luck!

That makes sense. That must be why they didn't look as puffy after I was done. I was mad after all that work, and they didn't look as cute.

I keep thinking about the woodburning tool, but just was scared to try it. Anything to make it easier!!

Thanks for the tip. I appreciate it.

OMG - Silly girl you! use the drill to wrap the korkers and then use a zip tie to attach them to the pony...sooooo easy, no sewing and you can make soooo many more. I absolutely LOVE the zip ties and always use them for ponys and korkers - never had any issues!

I had never thought about zip ties, that sounds like a great idea! And my husband wonders why I like to shop at Lowe's.
