Printing Your Own Ribbon???

I am considering trying a new hobby of printing my own ribbon. I have a few questions....

Is there a printing machine you can buy to print directly on grosgrain ribbon? or a ribbon printing service online?

From what I have read it looks like most people use the transfer paper. Is it hard to line up each 11" strip? especially if you are doing lots of yardage? Is it better to have a clear cut break in your design?

Also I have seen some handmade printed ribbon with white ink - how is that since printers don't print white ink?

Any help and tips appreciated!!!

I printed on ribbon with the transfer paper, it's tends to be fairly expensive, I had a had time lining up the ends to match, some of the print adhered great to the ribbon, some didn't. It makes the ribbon very hard and stiff, almost difficult to make a small 3/8" or 5/8" bow. I did the best with the 1 1/2" hairbows from my own prints. All in all it was not worth, the expense and trouble of printing my own. Altho you can find very cute grafics from Fairy Pixel, I would only do it again for a special occasion or a special request. Otherwise I will just buy the printed ribbon on line, they use some kind of a great print machine, that I know nothing about. Hope this helps.

I print my own ribbon and use the transfer paper. Im not sure about a printing machine! But that would be cool! Its hard to get it lined up and get it to look right. It just takes practice I guess. Not much help sorry!

A DTG (Direct to Garmet) printer will probably print on ribbon. They are super $$$, but if you're wanting to do a lot of business they're probably worth it. I'm guessing you could find a smaller machine somewhere.

I'd also love to know. I can't get any of the ribbon printers on facebook to say what machine they use. I know they're protecting their business, but I'm not trying to steal customers, just get information. I make ribbon products, I don't sell ribbon!:wallbash:

There are many bling transfers you can print them on the ribbon. The size can be changed according your need. http://www.cstown.com/bow:)
