Default Help! Bottlecap rubber ring residue

I am trying to make some bottlecap pendants and I removed the rubber ring inside. The problem is that almost all of them still have some glue or rubber residue from where the rubber ring was. How can I remove this? I tried rubbing alcohol and non-acetone finger nail polish remover and neither one worked. Has anyone else had this problem?

Well, since you have the rings off already perhaps you could try goof-off or goo-gone? When I used to remove the rubber ring, I would 'steam' them over a pot of hot water and everything would come off. How are you removing the ring?

Is it necessary to remove the ring? I never do for bows.

I removed them by putting them on my coffe pot burner as someone else had suggested. I tried to boil them but that didn't work. I will try the goo stuff. I didn't know if this had happened to anyone else.

I don't know about for putting on bows. I have read some people say that they have trouble with them gluing properly with the ring still in, but I have no experience with putting them on bows at this time. I am just starting to use them and was making pendant necklaces.

the goo gone probably wont work, I have tried it on mine. I have had the same problem. Mine do not just pop off with heat either like some do. I think it depends on where your getting the caps from and the seal they use. The caps I get, we put them on a candle warmer and it warms the seal enough to "scrape" it off.

I haven't had that problem. But if you can't get it off, maybe you can put an image inside the cap, either a blank one or maybe your website name or something? That would cover up the residue.

I stick mine in the oven at 350 degrees on a cookie sheet - liner side up - I just do a few at a time - then once the liner starts to curl up pull them out and take some pliers and pull the liner completely off
