Default Covering Snap Clips with 5/8" ribbon.

When I cover my snap clips with 5/8" ribbon it ends up coming apart in the bend. Please see attached pic.

Can anyone tell me what the heck I am doing wrong???

TIA!!!

I can't tell from the photo. Can you take another photo from the side?
I usually only use 3/8 ribbon to cover my 30mm clips.
What size clip are you covering? And I see red and white - is it a layered ribbon?

Not that I could probably help, but it is kinda hard to tell what's going on in that pic.....I also use the 3/8 ribbobn. Seems like the smaller ribbon makes it easier to get a tighter wrap.

I think she is talking about covering not wrapping the clip. So each end is coming up, I can't help I haven't done those kind before. I would say just use alot of glue on each end. There probably is a tutorial out there somewhere. hth.

What kind of glue are you using? Also when your placing the ribbon I wouldnt pull it too tight so that when the clip is snapped back and forth it doesnt pull apart but glue with really hot glue so that it s secure. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you everyone!

I am covering a 50mm snap clip with 5/8" ribbon....not the wrap technique (I am actually good at that one! HA!), I am trying to give it the "flat" look without using a snap cover. See my attached pic of others that I have made. None of my customers have complained about the ends but I am picky as the bow has my name on it.

I am using hot glue and I think I am going to take the advice of cutting it a little longer and not pulling so tight and glueing the heck out of the ends.
To be continued....

Sounds like you are on the right track. When I first started with 3/8 ribbon, I would have a "bump" in the middle of my clips and always had to use an applique to cover it. If that's the problem you are having, then HOT, HOT, HOT glue is your best friend. Add the glue and flatten your ribbon as quickly as possible. The hotter the glue the better. HTH

That does help, I am just going to have to move quicker it seems. It is almost like the glue is drying to fast.
