How did you get your circle so perfect. I have tried to stencil and it always bleeds under the stencil. I don't have a steady hand to to free hand.

I use a stencil to get the circle perfect then I go back and paint it to smooth it out and get the color uniform....the trick to stenciling is to use a good stiff stencil brush and dab it in your paint and then dab alot off on a napkin or I usually use a paper plate until you just have a bit and then hold the stencil on tight and dab all throughout....don't just try to paint it like normal....

Hi girls, I do not post on here very often, but I wanted to add that I emailed her & asked how she made them. I figured it couldnt hurt. Amazingly, she just paints them free hand. She said to invest in a great set of brushes & some good paint & it makes a huge difference. The only one she didnt paint was the Disney one, and for that she used a vinyl transfer.

I am wanting to try to make a bow holder similar to one of these for my niece. Before I go buy supplies, I was wondering if there is a certain type of craft paint I should use and what type of brushes I should get? I went to the craft store today and had no idea what to get, so I thought I would ask and see what you all recommend!

Thanks in advance!
Hollie

My vote for sure would be using the cricuit or cuttlebug to cut letters out in vinyl. Should be super easy that way!

I make bow holders/painted nursery letters/wooden pic frames etc. I use a combo of a few different methods int this thread. Usually for the font, I can freehand it but on the occasion that I can't or I'm in a hurry. I use the trace and transfer method. It works great and all you have to do is paint over the letters following the lines. For perfect circles, I use household items or change to trace the circle on the the wood and the using a slanted brush with a medium amount of paint, I follow the outer edge of the circle in one motion creating the circle This usually produces a flawless circle edge(no bumps) and then you just paint the inside as well.

Ok here is what I do for lettering...I print the outline of the name I want backwards... then flip it over on my board and scribble over it with a pencil. Lift the paper and ta-da you have an outline for the name for the circles I just trace something, or get stencils from a craft store
