Default Ostrich feathers...CURLY

Does anyone know how to curl the ostrich feathers?? They sell them already attached to clips at Hobby Lobby but I like the curly look. I bought a small barrell curling iron but it's not THAT small and I'm scared to use it for fear of burning the feather. I can't seem to find ANYTHING on it! GRRRR.....

Be really careful but you could try putting parchment paper over the feathers and curling it with your curling iron on low.....just an idea

DO NOT CURL IT YOURSELF!!!! It comes that way - you have to buy it in yards. Very expensive though. It is called curly ostrich

I think Raggety Amy has some of these for sale in basic colors, black, white, black and white. I believe she is planning on selling other colors in the future. She is on here, do a search for her name and send her a pm, she will be glad to help you with those and marabou puffs also.

I make Headbands and other accesories with these feathers! DO NOT USE A CURLING IRON!!!!!!

You use scissors like you would curl the ribbon for a balloon. Thats how you curl the feathers. Some will fall off but it will look great! Just make sure you have more than you need when curling!!!

I have never seen the curly Ostrich feathers before. Very pretty though. I would think a curling iron would burn them, they look very delicate.

I agree with ahaygood. I bought the regular ostrich and was told I could use a curling iron on low heat... that never curled it at all... I kept turning up the heat a bit and still no curl. I used the scissors like curling ribbon and I'll attach a pic of my dd's headband I made. A lot of work and a huge mess to get it full, let me tell you. This time I bought the "curly ostrich". HTH

Thank you ladies - you have been VERY helpful. I think I might try it out this weekend. I would rather try it myself before I pay $31.50 for a boa!! LOL Maybe when I start making a FORTUNE I can do that!!! Now to take the curling iron back! hahaha
