This is fabulous, I cannot for the life of me get these bows to look decent. Do you think you really need the salon clip though, or can you tie it off when it's still on the template, like Michele does with her mini-bow template?

If you don't like using the cardboard for you template, you can buy thin plastic cutting boards at Walmart, I think there are three in the package. Cut your template out of these, their a little sturdier and look 100% better. They make really nice templates, and easier to slide your bow off when your ready to tie it.

Where in Walmart do you get the plastic? I made my own a long time ago and they work perfect but they are just cardboard so after awhile the bend some and I have to make new ones, which is no big deal but I would like to have something a little better.Thanks.

That's what I do. I just tie a knot in the center with some of that elastic thread (I don't know what it is really called).

The plastic cutting boards are in the housewares section where regular cutting boards are. I don't remember the brand, but their in a plastic package with three in them. Their like blue, green and another color, flexable so that they bend really easy. Their at least 11 X 14 in size, so you get many cuts out of just one.

I made mine last night from card stock (I think that's what it is called), DH bought some off cuts from a picture framers a few yrs ago. I made several different sizes.

I don't have the big clips so all I did was stick a dressmakers pin in the centre, remove from template, position ribbon, then 'weaved' the needle & thread through the ribbon. Gathered the ribbon, wrapped thread around the centre a few times and stitched it off.

Didn't turn out too bad for a 1st try. Will post a pic when I take it and work out the 'how-to's' of attaching it .

No fear! Attaching the clip to the bow is probably the easiest part!
