Default Where do I begin?!!!

I'm new here and to bowmaking! I'm pretty crafty and own a bit of ribbon from my local craft store BUT the big question for me is.....

Where do I begin? Which bows are good for a beginner bow maker? barettes, alligator clips? There are so many choices and so many beautiful projects to be made...

I'm making the bows for my daughters who range from age 1 thru 9yrs old and a few friends' daughters around my girls ages if that helps!!

Any help/suggestions are sooo welcome, thanks!!!

For me, the pinwheels were the easiest, followed by the boutique. But, it also depends on what looks good on a child. My dd is 2 and VERY SMALL for her age so the big ole stacked boutique bows didn't flatter her. Good luck!

I would start simple, make a few lined clippies, then find you some instructions (never pay for em, google em enough and you'll find what you want! LOL!) then go from there. Korkers are very time consuming, so I take small steps and maybe go from clippies, to small bows, then boutique (aren't hard just concentrate on the instructions, you'll get it!!) then once you got those down, go on to korkers. There is so much you can make!! Have a blast with it!! Get us some pics when you get some made too!! Good Luck!!

Thanks!!! I've been trying my hand at a ton of new crafts these days and after putting multiple fluffy hairbows in my girls hair the other day and seeing some beautiful kroker bows made by another mama...I realized I could do that!

BTW, what is a pinwheel?

yeah, I started with just some lined clips, then did some simple "tuxedo bows" ( i think that's what they are called) I use mostly aligator clips and snap clips because that;s what works for my dd's hair... I love pinewheels too, but my daughter is also too small for big boutique bows, so I just don't try (yet atleast)

Just start small...soon you'll be addicted and making bows for any small girl you know :-)

I am only do this as a hobby for now with a few bows in my mother-in-laws consignment shop... I think that the pinwheels are the easiest. You can also make them large or small. Most of the bows that I make I put on an alligator clip so that my daughter can wear them. She will be one next month, but has good hair for a clippie. If I put her hair in a rubberband first, it will hold in a barrette, but they seem a little heavy.. I think that korkers are pretty easy too, but they take a lot or ribbon.
