Default Centers for fabric bows?

I'm making some mini fabric bows to attach to clips for a show. Several of the patterns will match my ties. What would you use for the center? Ribbon? A button? Fabric?

I have to figure out how to sew, too. I think I'll try running them through my machine. I can't hand sew more than a couple stitches because I have some nerve damage and just had surgery on both hands.

Once they're sewn, I think I might wash them to get them to fray a little. Then puff out and soak with fabric stiffener.
