I sometimes make my tutus extra poofy by alternating the direction that I tie the tulle...I also do this to make double sided tutus

Aww thank you! I use a little less then 50 yards (so I have a little left of the two 25 yard rolls that I use) and I tie the tulle REALLY tight! For this tutu I think I used 20 long strips so it came out to about 9 inches, but you could use shorter.

Your's looks great, I'm such a visual person, how do you tie yours? Do you do the square knot or the slip knot? I'd love to make double sided tutus but have no clue how.

I have made both with 3 in and 6 inch and in my opinion the 6" spools are much nicer and easier. With the 6 inch spool all you have to do is cut the strips. With the smaller strips you use bolt tulle and you have to roll the tulle and unroll and reroll to get it straight. Also mine made with 6" came out fluffier and fuller. The ones with smaller strips get wrinkled easier but also have a different look to them which some people like. So I hope I explained it right, but like with anything it's more of your own preferance.

Oh man I have no clue what knot I use...I use the knot from the instructions from http://www.girlythingsbows.com/

All you do to make it double sided is tie one knot facing up and then flip the tutu over and tie the other knot facing the opposite direction...make sense? If you need help or close up pics just PM me

I make sewn tutus but before when I knotted you can make knots face up to the top of the elastic and one down this will give the effect that the tutu has poof on top and bottom. Cant do it with sewn. Also this tutu is super short maybe 4-6 inches.
