Heat n Bond is fine as long as you use Heat n Bond LITE - not ULTRA. The Lite is not permanent but will hold long enough so you can attatch the ribbon. I use it for all my appliqueing. Watch the temp on your iron - too hot WILL melt the ribbon!! If you are nervous about ripping the seams open on a tee, just turn the ends of the ribbon under at the sides instead. Here's a tee I made using that method.

What type of bonding is the best to attach the ribbon if you don't want to machine sew it down?
Thanks

I've never made one but have wanted to so I'm glad to see the tutorial. I have purchased one on ebay that my daughter loved. The bow was attached with snaps so make it removable to wash but obviously couldn't wear the shirt without it. The pins would probably work better.

That's a great link! I might try that out too!

Is it best to make the bow detachable for washing though?

It looks like in the tutorial she was using Heat N Bond Ultra that was narrower than her ribbon, so she was not actually sewing through the Heat N Bond.

BTW: I love the Mickey tee! Did you make the Mickey head applique yourself? Do you have a template for the shape?

Thanks!

I was wondering about the applique also. But my sewing machine has already been backed and is at our next duty station. Can you use something else besides sewing it on?
