Default Tulle for Tutu Bow Holder

I want to make a tutu bow holder for DD's room. I've been looking at pictures to get ideas and I saw the tutorial on girly things. I really want the tutu to be full like this one:

Anyone know if I should use smaller strips of tulle like a tutu or should I gather larger pieces and stack them on top of each other? Any help would be appreciated!

I usually cut them about 6 inches wide and twice the length that I want plus two inches. then I stack three of them together and tie it into a square knot on the elastic. When I finish then I separate each layer. It makes them really full. If you want to see a picture let me know.

I have seen these and have been dying to make one for my daughter. Do you girls know where to get the template to make the top piece, or are you just free-lancing it? I would love to see pics when you are done!

Thanks so much for the tips! I was thinking the 6 inch tulle would work well for making the skirt really full. Do you just hot glue the elastic with the tulle on it to the bodice part?

I just folded a piece of paper in half (so when you cut it is symmetrical) and tried a few shapes out before I found one I liked. I will post a picture when I'm done!

Here are a few i did. on mine i add some pillow stuffin inside and it made it look cutie. I went to hobby lobby and got the spool of tulle when it was on sale and I cut about 12-15 in long. glueing the fabric was hard at first to go around the curve parts but my mother suggested that I put some feather boas on the top to cover it u plan to do soon.)

I have not made a bow holder so I'm not sure. Personally I would hot glue it to the bodice part. I went ahead and attached pictures of the tutu for you to see.

I made the bodice freehand. I also cut out a few different shapes and sizes until I got the one I liked the best... Mine are quite long, and it takes tons of tulle! Also, I "finish" the backsides of mine, so it looks completely professional anyway you look at them...
Mind you, these were the first few I made, so the colors of the ribbon were not the best. I also use at least three strands of ribbon. I unfortuneatly didn't take pictures of more recent ones I made for a boutique that purchases from me...

Oh-well, it's only letting me upload 1 picture. This one has a chenille top.
