Default Clip Direction

I don't know if I have asked this before, but in which direction does the opening of your clip face when attached to the hair bow? When you have a twisted boutique bow or butterfly bow do you attach the clip so that is opens to the left or right or does it matter? When I made these bow (tails up and down) and monogrammed them on the down tail I questioned myself as to which side the clip should open for the tail to hang down. If a child was wearing it on the top or back of her head I guess it might not matter, but what if she wears one bow on the side of her head. Do more little girls wear their hair parted on the right with the thicker part of the hair falling to the left or vice a versa? I have tons of hair bow instructions and none (that I can remember) address this. As always, thanks.

I've stopped mounting my bows until sold so I can confirm with the buyer. I can tell you that for my hospital craft fair, I sold all the clips that went on the right. I only made 2 or 3 that went on the left. For pairs of course I make one going each way.

Yes, at least 95% of mine are sold for right side. So if you premade, choose right side. If customize, confirm with your customer.

Thanks to you both. So as to clarify, when I am holding the bow the opening of the clip should be to the right?

Thanks again.

Mount so the open end is on the right side, pinch side on the left of the bottom of the bow... I think... I'm confusing myself

How funny! I do most of mine just opposite of Jen!

Most of the little girls I know around here have their hair pulled across from the left side of their head to the right. (Think of right/left from the child's perspective - I'm a biology major, so I always think in anatomical terms) It's just how their hair grows from the back of their head. I always have to make the open end of the clip on the left to help sweep the hair across right. Well, unless it's for a matched set which I do with a clip going each direction.

I love seeing topics like this to see how everyone does things differently!

I'm not sure now either. I was talking about if you were holding the bow in your hands looking at the front of the bow. If so would the open end of the clip on the back (while the bow was in this position) be pointing toward the right or left?

Right side=have their hair pulled across from the left side of their head to the right.
Left side =have their hair pulled across from the right side of their head to the left.

Above for left side of head. (pinch on left and open on right).

Above is for right side (pinch on right and open on left)

For pigtails, it doesn't matter which direction. Here is an example--the 'right' clip on left side pigtail:

The simple way is to try it on your DD (or yourself). It shouldn't be upside down.

And most of the hairbow/hair clips are for both side:

If I'm looking at the top of the bow/clippie, the open end of the clip is on the left.

I think I'm getting confused now too, lol.
