Default Boutique Bow Question

I know how to make them, but my loops don't stand up like the ones I see in pictures. Am I not doing something right? Do you need to glue or starch them to get them to lay the right direction? Here is what mine look like:

when you are sewing your ribbon make sure you have 3 folds in the center when you pull the ribbon tight also you have to kind of shape the ribbon before you sew it. Kind of like a swerving cross. It takes alot of practice to get it right. It took me a month of practice to learn it and get it down. There is a free tutorial around here somewhere ill see if i can find it....here is one Boutique Bow Free Instructions not the one i was looking for but this one helped me.

Thanks from me too! I have tried making a few boutique bows, but they haven't looked so hot--thanks for the tip on the 3 folds!!! I am going to try this out tomorrow!!

One other little trick is to play with the angle of your loops. If your loops are fatter when you make your "figure 8" then the overall look of the bow will be fuller.

These darn bows are tricky and I tried many methods before I got mine just right. Keep up the good work and you'll get there!

Yes, those bows are hard to master. It takes a lot of practice. To make it stand up more, make your angles closer to 90 degrees. Also, looking at your blue bow, it looks like that should be the back of the bow. Can't be sure since I didn't see you make it and I can't see any tails.

Oooohhhh, NOW I see!! I will have to try that. The 2 or 3 tutorials that I have looked at so far show a "skinnier" figure 8 w/ much smaller (like 45degree) angles. So I will try that with the almost 90 degrees. YAY! I'm excited to try this now. I thought I was just a dork for not being able to do it

This was the first one I tried to make, and I think it was the back, I realized after I had done a couple I was putting htem on the clip backwards! oops!

More practice - just an excuse to buy more ribbon right Hubby will love that!
