Default Spray Stiffener

I need help, my daughter brought in my bottle of stiffener (I put it in a spray bottle) and put it in the bathroom. Before I could return it to its proper place DH sprayed it on DS hair, a lot of it. How would you go about to get it all out without cutting or hurting his poor head?

Default Re: Spray Stiffener

I see you posted this about two months ago, so I hope everything came out ok! Anyways, the general rule of thumb for cleaning anything is "like dissolves like". If you don't know if something is water or organic-based, start with water and if it 'beads' up on you, move on to more and more organic material. First regular detergent, then something based with orange oil. Not for your DS hair but good for general messes: if it's sticky or gummy, 70% rubbing alcohol will usually do the trick. If it still won't come out fingernail polish acetone is best, but the 'acetone-free' with methyl-ethyl ketone or ethyl acetate usually work...always use in a well ventilated area away from heat and flame and always spot test though to make sure it won't damage the item you are trying to clean! Plastics, synthetic materials such as most carpets, paint etc, will be dissolved by acetone! As a last resort (and never on skin, and always in a well ventilated area away from heat and flame, turpentine and even gasoline may work....but please, please, please be very, very careful!! In fact, at this point, it may be best to take it to the experts!!)
