Default How many remove rubber liner from bottlecap?

Just wondering how many people remove the rubber liner from their bottle cap? OR do you leave it in? I'm having a heck of a time getting mine out...the warming thing turns it to goo...soo hard to work with...--MM

I just leave mine in. Since I put the image on the outside of the cap, I figure no one will be seeing it anyway!

Do you have any trouble adhering anything to the backside with it in? I didn't thus far...but I was just wondering

Put them flat side down on your warm coffee pot. I usually leave them on the base (where the carafe goes) for about 2 minutes. Pick up with a mitt and pull the liner out with tweezers. Comes out VERY EASY! I have pics on my site GreenHouse Butterflies Graphic Designs under bottlecap tutorial.

I have tried doing that, boiling, using my electric skillet and still can't get those crappy seals out. I gave up a long time ago. Maybe it is the kind I have as they all came from 1 place so maybe others are easier to do.

Well I don't make bottle caps but I do occasionally purchase pre made ones for my bows and all of them have had the rubber still in them. Does it really make much of a difference in the way the glue sticks? To me it seems like the glue wouldn't stick any better on the metal or does it? When I use bottle caps on my bows I take the sharp point of a knife and scratch up the rubber then use the "lake of glue" method, hot flue, ribbon, then more hot glue. I really hate using E6000, it's messy, it stinks, and I'm just too impatient to wait for glue to dry, lol!

I've never had a problem with adhering stuff to it. In fact, I think it's easier to adhere it to the rubber liner than just the plain metal. The plain metal is just too slick for me!

I just stick them in the oven at 350 on a cookie sheet with the liner faced up just watch them until they start to curl and then take them out and use pliers, tweezers etc to pull the liner off - it comes off really easy - however I only do a a few at a time (about 5) since you need to pull the liner while they are still hot before they cool off - and be sure to wear gloves or avoid touching the hot metal so as not to burn yourself

I have tried both ways! Leaving the rubber, adding some hot glue and once dry, the bottle cap can come off easier than without it! So I rather take the rubber off, it's a bit more secure...I think!

We use our wood burner to scratch the top and at the same time it heats it up enough to remove the inside. Ours were coming undone when we glued it on to the rubber.
