Default Ribbon Onesie Question

I just wondering do you wash the ribbon first? I was worried about putting colored ribbon (red/green/black) on a white onesie.....Will the color run on the white onesie when washed. Currently, I'm using UB ribbon and I noticed when I baked bows the other night the dark pink bled all on the light pink. If you think it will, how can I prevent this?

Thanks,
April

Hi! I have never washed the ribbon and I have made 100's of ribbon shirts. None of my customers have ever complained about the ribbon bleeding. I cannot be sure about ub ribbon though - it is just about the only ribbon I have not bought.

Could you wash the ribbon and lay it on a rag to dry? Then, you can see if it will bleed. It seems like that would work since things bleed onto another outfit all the time in my laundry!!

Ha! I feel so silly, that is such a great and practical answer. Why didn't I think of that? Thanks!

Don't feel silly - it might not even work!

I had a customer email last week and say her the ribbon on her shirt was "fraying"? Any idea what that could mean? She isn't talking about where I opened the seams and stitched the ribbon and closed the seam. She said it is fraying in the center of the shirt. Oh - it also has only been washed and laid out to dry once.

LOL! Unless she took some scissors to the middle of the ribbon on the front of the shirt, I would think that would be difficult to happen....unless....did you use a pin to attach a bow or something? Laid out to dry only once does not cause fraying....
