It looks to me that she is using a slightly bigger dowel to bake her korkers on, maybe just wrapping them a little looser, and she is cutting her pieces a tad shorter.

Here is one of the last ones I made. I cut my pieces to 2 1/2" each and use approx 30 pieces, and I use starch. I'm not sure how big my dowel is. Maybe 1/4"

After she puts them together she probably trims any that are sticking out farther and shapes the korkers. Since I only make them for my daughter I don't worry about it. It also looks like she uses a bigger dowel than me.

I've found that the secret to getting those rounder korkers is to (1) use shorter pieces (cut the one dowel length of korker into 5 or 6 pieces), and (2) use a lot of them (I usually use at least 32 korker pieces for each bow).

HTH!

Shorter peices in hers. Also, are you sewing them or tying them? Once I started sewing mine I was much more pleased with their shape and it seemed I didn't have to use as many peices. So it made them more cost efficient too.

I trim mine once I am done making them. This helps to give them a poofy shape. I also use about 32-40 2 1/2 pieces.
