Smile Which is best?

Hi Everyone!

My dd is 4 months old now and has almost enough hair for a clippie, so it is time to get to work making them. My question is about making them "no-slip". What works best? I have heard about lining with velvet, silicone strips and even using magnets under the ribbon. I will ask all of you experienced bow makers to advise me on this one.

Thanks for the help!

Melanie

I only use gripzies. They are latex free and safe for kiddos.

Find Wendy's no slip instruction, works great. Well worth the instructions!

I have used shelf liner but they would still come loose in my daughters hair. I got Wendy's instructions & now the little darling has to pull them out. Amazing they don't move in her hair.

I agree. I used to use shelf liner as well, now I use WEndy's - they rock!!! And latex free is a nice selling point for those that worry about it! (but of cours some of my clips have wool embellishments and then that is whole different allergy problem!!! )

Wendy's method really is the best. I've tried Gripzies, and they do okay, but not really great for my daughter's hair. Wendy sells instructions for her method for only $5, and it really is worth it! Plus, Wendy is a super-sweet person to boot! Her Etsy shop is here: Etsy :: punkynmunky :: Punky N Munky Creative Hair Bows, Instructions, & More

The velvet holds exceptionally well-esp if you line the whole clip. I had a bald redhead until she was a year old ++++ and I could get it to stay in her couple of strands from the time she was 3 or 4 mths old.

I know this seems silly to everyone that sells their hairbows since it isn't the neatest in appearance (I don't sell my bows I just make them for my daughter), and since no one actually sees inside the clippy (where the hair is) I just add a thin line of hot glue on the top and bottom of the inside and hold open a few seconds to dry. It holds my daughter hair amazingly even just a few strands. I figured since I have the hot glue gun in my hand anyways I might as well make it easier on myself and zap a little bit there. HTH
