By curly bows, do you mean the korkers? Those are wrapped around a wooden dowel of your choice (thickness) and baked right on the dowel. After removing from the oven, they are cooled & then removed from the dowel and there you go! I haven't made my own yet, just have bought some, but have read LOTS on this forum about how everyone else makes theirs

DITTO! Works amazingly well makes UB ribbon totally stiff no matter the size.

I bought some Sta-flo (sp?) at Wally World and a spray bottle at the Dolla Tree.....LOVE that place! I mix it half and half with water and spray away then bake on a foil covered cookie sheet at 275 for 20 min same as I do my korkers.

Oh! Today, I tried spraying one with starch, baking it, spraying it again with starch, and then letting it dry in the oven (someone rec. doing that) with it off, and it looks so pretty!!

I'm afraid to touch it though to assemble the rest of the bow!! And then what about shipping it?

Does it make a difference to bake them after spraying starch on them?

I see a lot of people stiffen their bows. Is it necessary?

I find it's necessary to keep there shape for a active toddler. After I bake mine my kids tend to grab the bows (after there cooled) and play with them. They retain there shape no matter what the bows go through. I have wadded on up in the palm of my hand and it came back to life.
