Thanks ladies!

I tried both and I realised that I am able to use the lighter for my thicker ribbons, but it completely toast my thin ribbons. My whites were sooty! LOL!

Guess I will have to use both methods!

Thanks ladies for all the advice!

I also just fold the ribbon in half, cut with scissor and then run the lighter over it quickly so it doesn't get misshapen. The woodburner does make neater cuts in my opinion.
Just wanted to add, I hope your baby feels better soon. I was told my little one had reflux, only to find out later it was a milk allergy. Either way, it's hard to deal with! Hang in there, it passes soon

I use a metal triangular ruler that you use to build miniature doll houses. It cuts perfect Vs for me everytime.

here is a pic of one of my bows using that ruler:

I don't heat seal my ribbon. I use fray check that you can purchase from any craft store. No need to worry about soot or burning because you achieve the same results without the heat. HTH

What a pretty bow!

The V-cut looks great! I dunno if I can find that same ruler that you use. But it sure sounds like a good ruler to have! Time to go shopping!

Heya! Thanks! Aly's reflux is not very serious, she just needs to be kept upright for 30mins after each feed (precious 30mins of sleep!). I try to keep her upright as much as I can whenever her reflux gives her problem. Otherwise, she is pretty ok. Phew!

I wouldn't use Fray Check.. On some ribbons, it leaves visible *stain*..very unprofessional imho. I used to use Fray Check when I first started about 3 yrs ago...never anymore.. Heat sealing is the way to go..

I am not a big fan of Fray Check. Only because even though it seals your ends it can leave a wet stain on your ribbon. Also after due time...the ribbon starts to fray slowly. My first bows had Fray Check and my daughters would wear them. It has been almost a year now and they are starting to split a little bit at the ends.

I prefer my woodburner. It looks more professional.
