Default Okay I'm losing my mind here....

I am going crazy over here trying to figure out how to do the twisted boutique bow (the one with the crazy loops). I tried the figure 8 method, turning the ribbon at extreme angles and everything else I can think of. I am using up all my good ribbon with crappy results. Please, please, help! I really can't afford to purchase instructions right now. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks Ladies!

April

Those took me forever to figure out. I have found it to be easier using the boutique bow method and really turning in the loops to make them look twisted. Its all in the fold as well. THAT part is the trickiest. HTH.

Hey, April!

I'm in the same boat you are! I have used up a TON of good ribbon trying to get this fold down. It is totally beyond me! I see so many beautiful pictures on here with the twisted boutique and am trying my hardest to figure it out.

Needless to say, I will be following this thread closely to see if I can get any fresh ideas!

Thanks to all who post on this thread ~ there is so much talent out there!

Heather

It took me awhile to get this style bow down as well. If you check out my website there is an "easy" version.

Alright, I know this might be crazy, but I think I've got it. I used this website video.

Slideshow of Cure for the droopy butterfly bow! - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I looked at it like a millon times. I went back and followed everything exactly. I think the important things I was missing were:

1. Make sure the loops are even before you sew. I know this self-explanatory for most, but I guess I thought they would "magically" adjust themselves...
2. Make sure the figure 8 is not a fat figure 8....makes floopy loops
3. (one thing is doesn't show well) When you fold in the two loops, overlap about 1/4 inch or a little more. I makes a better looking bow once you turn it over. Try both ways and see.
4. The creasing is the key to a pretty bow. I creased at least 3 times (sometimes 4) and got the best results (without a bow maker).

Here is the bow I just made. It may not be the best looking bow, but it looks okay to me and I'm pretty proud of it.
(Okay, looks like I'll have to post later...my computer is acting stupid.)

Hope this helps someone....

April

Have you tried making a narrow figure 8?
