Default what size of ribbon for stacked bows?

Happy New Year to all! I am determined on doing some stacked bows. Most I have seen have a combination of 3/8, 7/8 and 1 1/2 inch ribbons. Can you get away without the 1 1/2 ribbon? I just
realized I don't have any . Your experience is greatly appreciated!

I always use 1.5 as my base bow. Here's my general formula:
  • 1.5" base
  • 1-3 size 1.5" spikes
  • 1-3 size 7/8" and or 5/8" spikes
  • 1.5" or 7/8" topper
IMO, if you aren't making a humongous bow, the 7/8" topper is easier to work with because you can make a cute one that is less bulky.

Hope that helps! Have fun!

Oh yeah ~ I make 1-2 surround loops w/ 3/8" ribbon. Anything bigger is tough to use.

I usually make my bow to be 3"- 3.5". My topper bow is usually 7/8" or 5/8" ribbon (and sometimes 5/8" layered over 7/8"). I usually use 7/8" for the base. For spikes I use 5/8" or 7/8", and for the surrounds I use 3/8". If you're making a larger bow (like 4" and up), then 1.5" ribbon might look better.

I was chicken to do a layered boutique at first. Here's what I started with:

No 1.5" on either of those .
