Default Bow Board question

I searched around on here, but couldn't find the answer to my question. I am going to make a bow board/holder for my dd. My question is, do I have to pad it? if so can I use batting?

How do you display the boards? Holders? On the table?

How do you cover the back?
I've just bought the premade covered bulletin board type holder deals which I use but I'd like to make my own so it's real big.

I don't cover the back of mone at all. I just hot glue ribbon over the unfinished boarders on the back and it looks fine that way. I have sold tons of them that way.
