Default Help! What do I need to get started?

I SO want to make cute bows, and I try and try but only 1 out of 5 turn out. I really want to offer bows with my dresses on my website, but I can't sell them the way they look right now.

What do I need to get started? What's the easiest way? Do I use string or sew the bow in the middle? I know I've heard not to use wire (which is what I use.) Am I suppose to be using a glue gun?

Please help! I'm lost and desparate.

I certainly use a glue gun. Couldn't begin to make bows without it. I use wire and always have. Some prefer the threads and what not but I don't care for them at all and know alot of bow makers who use the wire.
I think a good bow is all about creasing. Use starch once you have it all right. ( Or hairspray)
Buying some instructions might be a good way to start out.
What about trying clippies or korkers or something like that?

you can also search for free instructions here in the form, google or buy some as for you using wire is really what you prefer to use you really need a glue gun also it my take practices so that you get a decent bow.

You may want to look at buying something like the brilliant bowmake or the TNT which are bow templates. I use the templates and the gator bite for creasing and get perfect identical bows every time! HTH!

I just started using the TNT. I'm not entirely blown away but it helps I guess.

You definitely need some instructions whether they are bought or free. I personally use dental floss or sew with upholstery thread for my bows & I have the gator bite thing to help with my creases. I would concentrate on 1 style of bow & get good at making that kind & then move on to another type. You need some type of glue, most people use hot glue. You need something to seal your ribbon ends a lighter or a woodburning tool. There are lots of free instructions out there if you look for them.

Ok i would say that first you need patience and i mean lots of patience!

Making bows may look simple but it takes time specially mastering all this new twists and new techniques. You need to keep on practising and pay attention why is one bow coming out good and the others are not.Could it be the lenght? could it be the fold?

What i do is unfold and try try again. Try one style first and after you have mastered it move on to the next. Dont try to make all styles at once, it will take lots of practice!

I found free instructions online by googling, took my ribbon and practiced after my kids went to bed until I got it right. I use elastic thread, and it works great.

Here are some sites I found helpful:

Boutique Bow Free Instructions

http://www.lookatmebaby.com/pdf/LAMB_ABC_PG27.pdf

https://www.theribbonretreat.com/cus...werLoopBow.pdf

Free Instructions: Loopy Surround-a-Bow Surrounds Surround

Free Loopy Hair Bow Instructions: loopy bubble bows hairbows, free directions

Pinwheel Hairbow

Free Tails Down Hair Bow Instructions: hairbows, free directions, bow boards

Suprisingly, YouTube has some good tutorials as well.
