Default A quick way to seal edges with lighter

I don't know if anyone else holds their ribbon in their hands and then uses a lighter to seal the edges. Well it always seems to take a really long time picking up the ribbon sealing it then turning it around and doing the other end. Well tonight I realized if I let the ribbon hang over the edge of my table I could seal all the ends in one swoop. You all might aready do this but I just discovered it and I thought I would share.

Neat idea! I will use it the next time I need to heat seal with a lighter. I use a wood burning tool and do it that way.

I use a wood burning tool as well and this is how I seal mine.

I usually use a wood burner too when I have a lot of ribbons to cut. Put if I only have 10 or so to cut I usually pull out the lighter. I'm too impatient waiting for my wood burner to warm up.

I haven't used the lighter since I first started making bows. Thank you for the advice. I usually use the barrel of the wood burning tool. Unless it's 1.5" -- well, I do still use the barrel with those, I just do half and then turn it over and do the other half.

I always use a lighter and I fold the piece of ribbon so that I do both ends at the same time-but I like your idea too

Brilliant! Thank you! I've just started using a lighter since I moved to a house that has no gas (I used to seal all my ribbons in the gas burner on the stove.) I'm always so frustrated by having to click the lighter on over and over-- my finger is seriously sore after a marathon session last night!
