I want to make a bunch of pendants as Christmas gifts for all of the girls in my family. My question is, Glass or Scrabble? Can you tell me which is the easiest? Which is the most cost effective? Also, can I get all of the supplies for one style at Hobby Lobby? I know there are kits on etsy, I just have a problem with instant gratification...I don't want to wait for supplies to arrive.

I'm just starting to make these for gifts too! I got everything I needed at Michaels: from the glue to the necklace parts. The diamond glaze I had to order online--couldn't find it in town. Hope this helps! (i'm making scrabble tiles, not glass...)

Did you already have your scrabble tiles? I went to Hobby Lobby today and struck out on the glass tiles. I guess I'll have to order online...so much for instant gratification. We don't have a Michaels here.

If you have "Freecycle" in your area, it might be worth a post on there to get Scrabble tiles. I think I got 5 sets when I posted over the summer! For more info about freecycle, go to 'freecycle.org'.

Yes, I had my scrabble tiles. It's a BIG family game so I told my mom to mail me all our old scrabble games...and not to ask any questions. I'm even making some journals using the scrabble boards on the cover. I hope my pendants turn out alright...I have such grand intentions and then my execution fails me!

I do both and I'd say the scrabble ones are less expensive and easier to make. Both are made pretty similar, but the scrabble ones seem to turn out better and you dont' have to worry about bubbles in the glass, etc.

I like to do the scrabble tiles. I do them like this,
scrap book paper
modge podge
Stickers
split ring

I drill a hole in all my tiles, but you could leave it and use a bail

put a layer of modge podge, then put a square of paper down.
Then take a toothpick and poke the paper through the hole that was drilled, if you don't drill skip this step.
Let it sit for a minute, trim the paper to make sure it fits, brush on another layer of modge podge
Wait about 10 min, put a sticker on usually an initial
then modge podge again
Then sometimes I add a crystal while the modge podge is wet.
Then do another layer of modge podge
Add the split ring
and it is done
