Default does anyone hold their bows together with rubberbands?

I have always used wire but a friend of mine told me to try a small rubberband. Granted it was much faster but as soon as I tried to glue it to the clip the hot glue melted the rubberband just like I thought. Does anyone have any advice?

Hmmmmm.... It sounded like a good idea at first, I had not thought of the melting aspect. No ideas!

rubber band it first then put your center knot or flat ribbon over the rubber band. you're using it instead of thread or wire right?

you need to pull your ribbon tight over the rubber band, then glue it to the barrette.

I use Sally's Clear Proclaim professional braiding rubberbands. I only use these on basic bows on hair clippies, otherwise I sew them together.
The trick is to hold the bow, over the rubberband, when you hotglue it to the clip. It may burn your finger until you get the hang of it, but if you keep pressure on it until the glue is set, and you immediatly glue your ribbon/bow center on, it won't melt the band and mess your bow all up. It works like a charm, and it much easier/faster IMO than sewing every single bow. I've never had a bow come apart (even accedently being washed) while doing it this way.
Of course, for the bows on shirts and items to be (intentionally) washed, I sew them securely!
HTH...

I tried rubberbands once. I use Fabri-tac instead of a glue gun and even that melted (disintegrated) the rubber. I was able to get the center ribbon down fast enough but the rubberband poked out unerneather on the side a bit and I ended up having to trim it off. I decided sewing was better for me and just as fast considering all the touch up work I had to do with the rubberband. HTH.

I am not sure I would like rubberbands. What if it gets left in a car or something.? Here it is way hot and rubberbands crack and fall apart in the heat and as they get old. Couldn't that happen to a regular rubberband in a hairbow??? Not sure about the braid ones though? Just a thought.
