Default Stacked boutique bow question

I have the whole boutique bow mastered now except for one thing and that would be the base of the bow. How do you do the base? I have heard of some people just making bigger boutique bows, making a bigger boutique bow and then flipping it upside down, some have even used the same size boutique bow as the main bow.

I am just so confused, I can't figure it out and the ones I am making aren't bad looking they could stand to look better if I could master how the base bow is done.

I think what kind of base you use is a personal preference. I have been making a bunch of 2 1/2" stacked bows and the base on those have just been a surround.

I make my base bow about 1" bigger then my top bow and the ribbon is wider as well. So if my top bow is done with 7/8" then the base bow is made with 1.5" ribbon. I don't think thats needed, but thats how I do it.

I've never tried turning the base bow upside down... I'll try it later on today to see how that turns out Thanks for the tip!!!

Ok, I think we are mixed up a little, what we want to know is what kind of bow do you use on the base, not the size , do most use a basic boutique bow or a twisted boutique bow? or another kind?
Thanks

Hmmm, sorry... I just figured she was trying to decide on if she should do the boutique bow, bigger, smaller or the same

I do a boutique bow as the base... I guess something like a pinwheel bow can be used as a base, I don't know, never tried it.

Good luck!!

Kimberlea, I'm so sorry if I sounded snarky, I sure didn't mean to. Thank you so much for the advice, I'm new here and was wondering the same thing about the base bow.
It takes me a while to do a twisted boutique bow and I guess I just hate covering the thing up LOL.

I forgot to also add, I have a sister who's name is Kimberlie and your the only other one I've ever seen who goes by the who name instead of Kim.
I see she spells her different.

LOL no worries. The twisted boutique is what I meant to say that I use as the base. Trust me, if you keep practicing they get easier. It's the only bow I can do in under 2 minutes

I tried going by Kim awhile back, but once people heard how my name was pronounced they would call me Kimberlea instead. I still sign my name Kim sometimes but nobody calls me that, LOL
I like how your sister spells hers!!
