Question Velvet Korker????

I found some cool 3/8 velvet ribbon at Michaels today that is red on one side and like a silver satin on the other. The blend is poly/nylon... do you think I can kork this???? I'm afraid of the nylon melting more than the poly (and I'm sooooo not into the burning ribbon smell... it requires baked chocolate chip cookies to cover it and who do you think will eat those!). What do you think?

I got some of the green with red too. I would have gotten more if I'd realized it was on sale

I wonder if you tried a low temp, like 250 and kept checking really really often. A velvet korker done with on a 5/16 dowel would probably look pretty!

Well I thought I'd go for it and it worked!!!

I sprayed the satin underside portion with starch before wrapping it on the dowel. I cooked at 250 for 25 minutes (I did check every 5 minutes). The only portion that is unuseable are the very ends under the clips.

I'm very, very excited. I hope they have more
