Cutting Spikes With Woodburner?

Can everyone please share their tips for cuttin spikes with a woodburner? Mine are coming out very uneven and jagged!

I've read a metal ruler helps.

Yeah I use a metal ruler...I just can't seem to get the V on my spikes to be even and nice!

i think cutting it with glass underneath...gives a better cut....

You could try cutting with scissors and then just using the burner to seal the ends afterwards. I do it like that sometimes.

I used to use wood underneath when I was cutting with a woodburner, but since I found Tonya's instructions for the glass mat it's made the cuts perfect. I can't believe what a difference it made.

I haven't made a glass mat yet, but I did use my pyrex dish turned over. It worked okay.
