Question Flames Stencils?

I have a customer who wants flames on a plain white bow. I have looked everywhere for fabric and can't find any that is just red and black. I had someone embroider flames on one and it doesn't look good. So I am thinking a stencil might work. But I have never stenciled on fabric or ribbon. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Ooh, yeah, ok here's an idea. Draw out your flame on a cardboard. Take flame color ribbon and put heat n bond on the back. Then use the cardboard stencil to cut with a wood burner on the flame ribbon - then peel off heat n bond paper and adhere to the base color?

I had thought about this with fabric. Do you think it would work better with ribbon or fabric? I have the shiny mystic fabric in red.

The problem is that she wants red and black on white grosgrain. It is pretty much impossible to find flames in just red and black. There is always some orange or yellow in it. I think this or a stencil is probably the best method. Thanks for the suggestion!

all right yella, i got it.

make your stencil flame and spray it with the spray tie dye from michaels. i think the woodburner is going to be very time consuming. just lay out your ribbon and spray red flames. maybe accent with black paint, skinny ribbon or black rhinestones.

I love the rhinestones idea! I could do the flame in red and accent with the black rhinestones or vice versa. Will I be able to get the spray dark enough? It has to be a team color red.

I am going to try both of these. I will probably show her both if they work. But I'll definitely charge more if she chooses the heat and bond one.

it does come in red. i tried the aersol one, the color faded a little. i would try the regular spray.

If you go the fabric route, you *might* be able to find fabric with the flames already on it - then at least one step is already done! Then I would definitely line it with something to keep the edges from fraying, even with heat n bond.

Use an iron on t-shirt transfer

Find a great flame design (or two or three), print, cut, iron.... TADAAA!!!

If you want help, I'd be more than happy to whip up a quick fire for ya LOL - just let me know which width of ribbon you need it for!
