Question please help - I'm hurting myself

I've been using a lighter to heat seal the ends of my korkers. It hadn't been too bad because I'd only had time to do one bow at a time. But I wanted to make my cousin's daughters a bunch of bows for their birthdays and that meant 10 korker bows with approx 24 - 32 korkers each.

I've got a giant blood blister on my thumb.
It's not even one of those blackish blue blood blisters. It's bright red - you can totally see the blood under the surface.

There's got to be a better way I want to make more and loved being able to get a ton done at once but I don't want to keep hurting myself. Please help!!

You should definately get a woodburning tool! They're easy to use once you get the hang of it. It also helps things go faster because it cuts and seals the ribbon at the same time. Good luck!

can you recommend a good wood burner? I never thought to use one of those.

also do you think it'd be okay to use a candle until then? I burn one while I'm working anyway (the partylite kind with the cotton wick)

The one I have says Walnut Hollow. I got it at Joann's. I don't know about using a candle. I've never done it that way.

I am feeling you girl. I made 50 bows last night for consignment sale and my fingers are so tender. Luckily I have been able to mount and center them tonight to give my poor fingers a break....

But I use a lighter too. I just bought a hot pink pillar so I will have to try that. But I want to try a wood burner... what do you use to cut on? Cutting board?

I use a lighter too but my fingers get so sore. Hubby bought me one of those lighters that have a button instead. It's a cheaper alternative. You poor little sausage....I feel your pain.

I was skeptical about getting a woodburner, but since I got one 2 weeks ago, I can't believe I ever lived without it. I LOVE it! And, they are sooooooooo cheap. You can get the Walnut Hollow one at Wal-mart or any craft store for close to $10. I for the one with lots of tips but have only used the extra fine tip. I also got a glass cutting mat (in the scrapbooking section at Michael's or HL)using the weekly coupon. Along with a metal ruler, you'll be set. A total investment of $20 and no more burning those fingers. Well, except on the glue gun.

Definately need a metal ruler with the woodburner. I just turn a cookie sheet upside down and cut ribbon on that. One less thing for me to buy which is music to my dh's ears!
