Red face Is this right? I need professional help :)

Ok, when it comes to ribbon sculptures, I catch on pretty quick, but folding for actual bows has been a long painful struggle. I finally broke down and bought some instructions, and I've been folding, sewing and undoing my bows to figure out this whole butterfly/boutique fold. Here are some of what I've done lately....can anyone give me some ideas? Is this right?
Thanks in advance!
Robin

The first one is a basic bow and the second is a layered one I tried with spikes and all....if you can't tell, the figure in the middle of the layered one is a "new" baby

Looks like you're moving in the right direction! Work on getting your loops a bit more even. Also, watch your V's in your spikes. I love the new baby btw!

Thanks for your reply! Any tips for making the loops more even? Are my spikes too long? I can't tell you how many bows I've made and destroyed in this process. To be honest, I don't think the instructions were all that great and I've done a lot of figuring out for myself. Any more help is greatly welcomed!

honestly, it just takes practice. I've only used the free instructions on here. I was taught incorrectly and have had to break bad habits. The biggest thing that helped me was to try and get my angles at 90 degrees. Also, I check and double check my loop eveness as I'm folding.

For the Vs, try and get your cuts to be straighter. They're a good length (I think anyway, lol).

Yeah, I just noticed that. Look at the instructions on this site.

I'm using some instructions I bought off etsy from "bowzies for babes" (I don't think this person is a member here) and though I knew most of what was on there, I've seen several variations on how to do this fold but none of them ever look right! I thought that at least the layered one looked pretty good from the side (like those I've seen online). The main problem I had with the instructions was that there were pictures of how to fold the first 3 loops, but no pictures of the last one, so I've tried everything I can think of. It doesn't seem like it should be this difficult, especially since I've been making bows for over a year now. Is practice the only answer? Grrrrrrrrr........

Thank you all. I've seen that method, (though that's not what I used in the pics) but didn't know it might be better to turn the bow over before I crease/sew it. I don't know why my top right loop is off...but I think that's the last loop...it's hard to remember how I had it turned for the picture. Thanks for all your help. I will keep trying and probably post more pictures soon

I'd suggest to try the ones that are already posted in the forum.
