Its really a personal preference... some will say it looks more professional that way some will say the dont like how the clip can show thru the bow and you see metal so when covered by the same color family ribbon it seems to blend in... some have only ever seen it done that way and follow... its a regional thing... the list could go on.

Me... I like them to blend in so I dont see the shine of metal poking thru the bow

I line my like the first also and I also like to line the clip so the metal doesn't distract from the bow. I used to not line but I like the way the lined looks better. Like all the girls have said.. it's personal preference and it's what your area (market) prefers if you are going to sell.

I do it like the first.

and I also think seeing the metal doesn't look as nice. Seems "cheaper"

You know that is so true I have made bows before and hated it because you could see the silver part. I believe I will line the clips that makes perfect since. What if you don't have the exact color to match the bow.
Thanks,

The ONLY clip I line in on my itty bitty bows. I make them with 3/8" ribbon and a tiny bow. If I didn't line the clip you would be able to see it. Every other bow I make I do not line the clip. I've never had a complaint but if you are making bows for someone (like a customer) you may want to offer it as an "extra" and charge for it. It is kinda a time consuming pain in the butt

I line mine because, like others, I don't like the metal showing through. You don't have to do it in the same color as the bow. If you want the clip to bend, but don't have the same color, use a soft color that compliments your bow. But if you want the clip to pop a little, you can use contrasting colors. Last night, I made a pink bow on a black lined clip with a black middle.
