Default Having hard time with bout. bow, advice on this?

I know the loops are really uneven, but what else is going on? I feel like I have been practicing these forever. I think something goes wrong in the creasing step. All my loops get uneven and ribbon slips. Please take a look at this one. It is not tied off yet and doesn't have middle on it.

I think it looks good. I have the same trouble with my loops getting uneven. Not sure how to fix that part though.

What size ribbon are you using and how wide is it?? sometimes the wider the bow, the bigger the ribbon works for me. I use 7/8th and 1 1/2 for my bottoms, and it just seems that my loops lookmore even...hhmm...ok maybe I was no help...lolol

I can't tell if that is sewn or elastic. If it is elastic, flip the bow over and look at the loops. It looks like you could even up the loops by pulling the one on the right bottom.

[It is hard to write this and not be able to look directly at it]

You may want to work with elastic cording (I like 1 mm) until you are able to keep things even. That way you can pull to adjust the loops after tied so that it will look better. If you want the security of being sewn, tie it with elastic first, then sew it together.

I only use 26guage wire to tie my bows. It's all I've ever used. I think your bottom left loop is just a tad bigger than the rest. Besides that I would make the "tail" pointing down a little longer. Other than that It looks fine to me.

FYI ...it's easy to be very critical of your own bows. I think we are all guilty of that. Try to be easier on yourself. You customers won't notice the tiny little things that you see and think are wrong. They just see a cute bow!

Thanks, girls! You have really encouraged me I was using 5/8 so I think I will try bigger ribbon. I was also sewing to crease so I think I will use the elastic and then sew afterwards. Thank you for the great advice.

Dito on that. I am a perfectionist about everything (have to have my bed made a certain way) especialy about my bows.
