Default What size elastic for a tutu?

I just finished making my first tutu! Not bad for my first. I'll take a photo of my daughter in it tomorrow. I think my elastic was way too thick though. I got 1 inch and after i was finished I tightened all the knots and the elastic started to bunch up and roll in a bit. Of course, because the knots made it tight. I thought the knots were supposed to be super tight, so it must be too thick. This is fine for my 3yo but won't fly if I am making them to sell, which is my plan. sooo... any advice, thoughts ideas?...
Thanks, definately trial and error for sure!

I use the thin for mine like 1/4" I was using the bigger though and it did the same folded up and stuff... The smaller works better IMO

Thank you. That's what I'll have to do.
Another question... how do you get the knots tight? I pulled mine tight after it was all done, but they still seem to be coming loose.Do you double knot and how?

I would recommend to keep using the one inch, but make sure you get the non roll kind. You need to put your thumb under the knot and tighten really tight, then pull your thumb out and tighten a little more. It takes a lot of practice to get a really tight knot. I haven't double knotted mine, but sometimes I think about doing that. If you are using anything smaller than one inch, try a clothes pin instead of your thumb.

I use 3/4" non-roll for mine and put my thumb under as I am tightening the knot just like the previous posted stated.

I checked my elastic and it is 3/4 inch, too. Sorry, I think I said 1 inch in other post. The thumb being there also helps the elastic from rolling as you tighten.

You can get this at Walmart for .97 It definitely won't roll. Hope that helps.
