Default How do I get my boutique bow to do this???

Okay, I've been working on my boutique/butterfly bow for months now and while it's getting better, it still doesn't look like this (just look at the top boutique bow)...

Etsy :: beccasboutiquebows :: Set of 2 Boutique Custom Bows M2MG Gymboree Palm Springs Pink Blue Green

Here is what mine looks like...

Is it the crease, the tie off or something you do to it afterwards? Or how tight you tie it off? Someone please help me before I pull all my hair out. Thanks.

put a more dramatic angle to your ribbon as you cross it, it should help.

When you angle the ribbon, do you do more of a 90 degree or 45 degree?

I tried those instructions before and while I do like them, I find I prefer to shape the bow by hand. When I did those instructions, my hand kept letting go and I'd lose the bow and had to start over. It was more frustrating for me, LOL.

Thanks. So, once the bow is tied off, do you do anything afterwards to shape it? Does it just turn out like that?

What length is your ribbon? I found that I was not allowing enough ribbon, along with the correct angle to make the bow. Just an idea.

The best in structions that I've found are these...

Boutique Bow Free Instructions

The needle in the middle keeps everything together so you can concentrate on your loops. Mine look 100% percent better now. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I use about 19 in for a 3 in bow using 7/8" ribbon. I think maybe it's the angle that's causing me probs. Plus, when I get ready to tie it off, it's moving a bit. Need the death grip.

Oh, I tried those instructions a while back. They were fine but never really helped that much to get the crease just right. I think I'm losing it when I get ready to crease/tie.

Thanks ladies.

Try using more ribbon. Instead of the ribbon making an X in the middle when they cross, make them make more of a t. I use about 23" of 7/8" for about a 3" bow. Try that. You have to really overexagerate the angles. HTH!

Also, have you tried different brands of ribbon? Some brands I can work with very easily, some I can't. Sometimes i can even work with a particular color within a brand easily while another color feels different!
