You can do it either way, but it will come out much fuller if you put them together...I used this

I tie each one individually. I have never had a problem with them not being full or poofy. I like one because the knots are smaller/tighter. Two colors of one and then two of another, but it depends on how thick you want the color bunching. If you want it super fully, do one up, one down, etc.

Great instructions, but how do you make the flower petal filled tutu's?

I have made 2 now and have just alternated colors. It's still pretty poofy. I believe that it gets more fluffy too when you make the strips wider the only problem with that is that the knots are a lot bigger.

I'm going to try and post some pictures this weekend when i'm not working of the ones that i've did

I also want to learn how to make the tutu's with the filling inside. I saw some cute ones on etsy where they put the pom pom fillerse inside for birthdays. I think it's just so adorable!

I made my twin girls tutu's for their first birthday photo shoot.
Here is my little Julie in hers. I did each color individually and it came out pretty poofy i think. they were 6 inch wide strips. This was one of the pics the photographer picked for her blog.

*** note, i did not take this photo, I made the tutu my daughter is wearing in the photo ****
