Default Baby Korker Bows

I am able to make korkers for older girls, but would like to make them for newborn-toddlers. I tried tonight with the smallest dow rod you can get at Wal-Mart and 1/8 grosgrain ribbon. I tried to do my usual 10,8,8, and 6 on top. While I liked how small the ribbon was, overall the bow was almost too poofy! I think it is going to make my toddler top heavy Should I go 8,6,6, and 4 or maybe a bigger rod? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

When doing baby korkers I only use about 10 pieces and cut the ends shorter. It looks full I will add a pic if you like when lumpy baby falls asleep.

I use 1/8 satin on the smallest dowel from Walmart, I use 3 dowel fulls, LOL I never counted but I can tell you it is almost the whole roll of ribbon. They sell like hot cakes so I guess they are ok. HTH

first--what does that 10, 8, 8, and 6 mean?

i kork 1/4" w/ my regular 1/4" dowels and then only put 9 - 2" pieces.

I was wondering what the 10,8,8,6 meant?

I think it means the number of korkers in each layer? I'm not sure though

I have never "layered" my korkers just stick how ever many look good on a needle and sew...even when I just tyed them I just put what looked good. Do others make layers? I have just never heard of that!

Sorry, it was late when I posted last night and I must have been tired because it is not very clear:P I layer them. 10 on bottom row, 8 on next row at a angle, 8 on top at a angle, and 6 on top at a angle. All the angles go different way (left, right, left). I have always made them that way. I actually never thought to try them a different way Would you mind posting pictures of what your ribbons look like? I would love to see them.

P.S. How do you sew them? I love to find out more about how to do that. I tie mine, but I bet sewing looks nice.
