Default Gator Bite question

What do you use to tie off the bow with when you use the GB? I just got mine today and I used elastic thread and embroidery thread and it broke. Also, it seems like I cannot get it tight enough just tying it by hand like that. What do you use??? Thanks.

Sandy

I use dental floss. In order to get it to stay tight, I wrap the floss completely around the center before I tie the knot. I put the end through the gb & back up around then back through & up again so it completely loops the center. Is that clear as mud yet? It really helps the knot to hold intil you get a second one tied.

I use upholstery thread. I use a needle and stick it thru the middle of the bow first, then wrap around and around and around... pull tight, then I remove it from the GB and wrap a few more times. Grab a stitch and then tie it off. I have not had the upholstery thread break at all.

BTW, I love my gator bite!!!!

Thank you. Was I supposed to get upholstery thread, not embroidery thread? Doh!!

ETA: The dental floss worked like a charm. And my bow is minty fresh.

This is what I do but I don't have the gator bite. I am still not sure if it is worth buying or not.

I just got it 2 days ago and I really love it. I was so skeptical but I read good reviews about it here so I decided to try it. I have trouble with the boutique/butterfly bow once I tie it off. Now, it looks great! And I heard it makes tying off the small bows much easier. I figure it will be worth it b/c it makes my life easier.

I may break down and get it but not right now. I have spent way too much money this past week on bow related stuff.
