Do you stiffen your big bows?

Just wondering how many ppl use a stiffener and how necessary it is to make a bow stand up. Also saw some ppl are using hair spray or spray starch. Does that leave any residue? Thanks.

I use regular laundry starch (and I starch them GOOD! lol). I like to starch all my bows (especially where little hands will be) but especially my big bows. I don't like for them to flop around and I want them to hold thier shape. My starch smells good.... like a light baby powder. No residue here.

Thank you. So, when you apply the hair spray or starch, do you spray after you have completed the bow? And do you mist lightly or spray more than once? What kind of hair spray do you use? I'm assuming an aerosol.

Yeah, I think they have a 12 step program for that, LOL.

I use liquid starch ya know Sta Flo I pour it in a spray bottle half water/ half starch. It works better then spray starch in the can or hairspray. Takes a little longer to dry- But BOY does it stay!! No residue and it smells nice.

Do I get Stiffen Stuff at the fabric/craft store? I asked yesterday and they looked at me like I was nuts.

I use starch and then AUSSIE hair spray. No residue and SMELLS wonderful!!

I always use Stiffen Stuff. It doesn't leave any residue and it doesn't have a smell. Just fluff your bow and spray! It dries pretty quick too. Hope this helps!
