The one on the right is made by making 2 tuxedo bows and stacking them on top of each other.

The one one the left is made by taking pieces of heat sealed ribbon and folding it in half. Make a running stitch across the part where the ends meet. Continue adding adding ribbon pieces until you have 7 and then pull the thread to gather the pieces into a circular shape. Tie it off and add a felt circle on the back to help it hold it's shape. Hope that made sense

Would this work with any size ribbon or would it be best with 7/8"?

I would probably use 7/8, but it would work with any width. You may play with the the other widths and be surprised how you like it
